Made-to-measure kitchens, wardrobes and joinery built for the North Queensland climate, designed and installed by a local team with more than 12 years of hands-on experience across Townsville.

Townsville Custom Cabinets designs, builds and installs kitchen cabinetry paired with compliant, hard-wearing benchtops chosen to suit your budget and your home. We do not fabricate, supply or install engineered, reconstituted or artificial stone, which is prohibited across Australia, so we work only with benchtop materials that meet the current standard: natural stone such as granite and marble (fabricated by licensed stonemasons), porcelain and sintered surfaces, laminate, solid timber and stainless steel. Whether you are renovating a kitchen in Hyde Park, fitting out a new Deeragun build, or updating a highset home, we match the benchtop to how you cook and live. Cabinetry is built with moisture-resistant board where humidity demands it and finished with quality soft-close hardware. Every job begins with a free measure and quote.

Benchtop options we offer

We help you choose a benchtop that suits your cooking, your look and your budget, from a range of compliant materials. Laminate is the most cost-effective and comes in a huge range of colours and stone-look patterns. Natural stone such as granite and marble gives a genuine, hard-wearing surface and is fabricated and installed by licensed stonemasons we coordinate with. Porcelain and sintered surfaces are dense, heat-tolerant and available in large formats. Solid timber suits island benches and character kitchens, and stainless steel suits serious cooks and butler's pantries. We will talk through the trade-offs of each so the surface matches how your kitchen is really used.

How we build and fit your kitchen

Every kitchen starts with a free in-home measure so cabinetry and benchtops fit the space precisely. Carcasses are built from durable board, stepping up to high-moisture-resistant (HMR) board in a Townsville kitchen where wet-season humidity and spills put board under pressure. HMR resists moisture but is not waterproof, so edges and cut-outs are sealed properly. Doors and panels can be melamine, laminate, timber veneer or a 2-pac painted finish. We fit soft-close hinges and drawer runners as standard, using systems of the calibre buyers recognise, such as Blum and Hettich. For stone and porcelain tops we template after the cabinets are installed and level, then coordinate the licensed stonemason's fabrication and install so the benchtop sits perfectly on our cabinetry.

Why locals trust our kitchens

You deal directly with a local Townsville cabinet-maker, not a call centre, from the first measure to final handover. With more than twelve years building kitchens across North Queensland, we know how our climate treats materials and how to detail cabinetry so it lasts in the tropics. We give you a fixed, itemised quote, so the price is clear before any work begins. We are fully insured with twenty million dollars public liability cover, and we stand behind our workmanship, with manufacturer warranties applying to hardware and materials. Because we manage the cabinetry and coordinate the benchtop, there is one accountable team throughout.

What a kitchen and benchtop costs

Kitchen pricing depends on the size and layout, the door and finish choices, the hardware, and the benchtop material you select. Laminate benchtops keep costs down, natural stone and porcelain sit higher because of material and fabrication, and timber or stainless fall in between depending on the job. A straightforward kitchen refresh costs far less than a full renovation with an island, butler's pantry and premium surfaces. As a rough guide, kitchens range widely from the mid thousands to well into the tens of thousands depending on scope, and every figure here is a guide only. Your fixed quote is priced to your kitchen after we measure.

Custom kitchens vs flat-pack

Flat-pack kitchens from a hardware store suit tight budgets and simple, standard layouts, but they come in fixed cabinet sizes that rarely fit older Townsville homes or awkward rooms. With no IKEA showroom in North Queensland, the nearest being more than 1,300 kilometres away near Brisbane, browsing and matching flat-pack locally is hard, and delivered modules still are not made to measure. A custom kitchen is built to your exact dimensions, lets you choose materials suited to our humidity, and is installed by our own team with the benchtop templated to fit. You also get one local point of contact for cabinetry and stone, plus aftercare. For most renovations, custom is the better long-term result.

What Our Kitchen & Stone Benchtops Customers Say About Us

The Process

3 Step Process For Your Kitchen & Stone Benchtops Needs

Free Measure and Quote

It starts with a free, no-obligation visit to your home or site. We take accurate measurements, talk through how you use the space and what finishes you have in mind, and note any tricky dimensions common in older Townsville homes. You then receive a clear written quote covering the design, materials and hardware. This is the stage where we recommend the right moisture-resistant boards and compliant benchtops for your project.

Design and Workshop Build

Once the quote is approved, we finalise the design and cut and build your cabinetry in our workshop. Every carcass and door is made to measure for your exact space rather than assembled from fixed flat-pack modules. We use quality boards suited to the tropical climate and fit soft-close hinges and drawer runners as standard. Building in a controlled workshop keeps the quality consistent and reduces the time and mess on site.

Professional Installation

Our own team delivers and installs the finished cabinetry, so the people fitting your kitchen or wardrobe are the same people who built it. We install carefully, check that every door and drawer runs true, and adjust the soft-close hardware for a smooth finish. Wet-zone edges are sealed properly to handle the humidity. We tidy up as we go and walk you through the completed job before we leave.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you need to know about our Kitchen & Stone Benchtops In Townsville City

Do you make or install engineered or Caesarstone-type stone benchtops?

No. Engineered, reconstituted and artificial stone, the quartz-based products often called Caesarstone-type, are prohibited across Australia. It became an offence to manufacture, supply, process or install them from 1 July 2024, with import banned from 1 January 2025, because of the serious silicosis risk to workers. We do not fabricate, supply or install any of it. Instead we offer compliant benchtops: natural stone, porcelain and sintered surfaces, laminate, solid timber and stainless steel.

What benchtop should I choose for a Townsville kitchen?

It depends on your budget, how you cook and the look you want. Laminate is affordable and versatile, natural stone and porcelain are premium and hard-wearing, timber suits islands and character homes, and stainless suits heavy use. We talk through heat tolerance, maintenance and cost for each so you can decide. All of our options meet the current safety standard.

Can you replace just the benchtop in my existing kitchen?

Often yes, if your existing cabinets are sound and level. We assess the carcasses first, because a new benchtop needs solid, square cabinetry underneath to sit properly. If the cabinets are still in good order we can template and fit a new compliant benchtop; if they are failing, we will tell you honestly rather than build a good top onto a poor base. This is a common update for renovated kitchens across Townsville's established suburbs.

Do you build kitchens for new homes in Deeragun and Kirwan?

Yes. New builds across Deeragun, Kirwan and Kelso are a big part of our work, from full kitchens to matching butler's pantries and island benches. We can work from your plans or measure once the space is ready, then build and install to suit. Because it is made to measure, the kitchen fits your actual room rather than standard flat-pack sizes.

Who fabricates the natural stone or porcelain benchtop?

Stone and porcelain benchtops are templated and fabricated by licensed stonemasons, which we coordinate as part of your project. We install and level the cabinetry first, then the benchtop is templated to fit precisely on top. You still deal with us as your single point of contact throughout. This keeps the cabinetry and benchtop working together as one job.

Are timber and laminate benchtops any good in the tropics?

Both can work well when specified and cared for correctly. Laminate is durable, budget-friendly and low-maintenance, though it can be damaged by heat and deep scratches. Solid timber brings warmth and suits islands, but it needs oiling and can move with humidity, so we set expectations honestly. We will recommend the surface that best fits how you use your kitchen and the conditions here.
